Potrace: Matt Parsons's Model Airplane Project



Matt Parsons has found a creative way to use Potrace in the construction of model airplanes. He started with some old scanned schematics like this one:

Potrace does not offer centerline tracing, so to make the image suitable for processing by Potrace, he performed a bucket fill on each outline:

After downscaling the image to remove pixel noise, he traced the image to SVG, then used a machine cutter to laser cut the pieces from sheets of balsa wood. Here is the result:
